Martie Kwasny, Executive Director

Martie Kwasny received a B.S. in Special Education (Severe and Profound) from Louisiana State University in 1987. She went on to obtain a M.A. in Counseling from Regent University in 1991. Martie directed the Special Needs Ministry at Pear Orchard Presbyterian for thirteen years while also serving on the Special Needs Committee of the Presbyterian Church in America ten of these years.

She worked for seventeen years with Joni and Friends, International, planting area offices in Mississippi, Louisiana, and Alabama, as well as coordinating work in India throughout the country of India since 2014. Martie and her husband John have eight children (four married) and nine grandchildren. Martie’s passion is to see people who are suffering with disease, disability, and disorder receive Biblical care and counseling. 

Victoria Benson, Director of Ministry Operations

Victoria Benson is the Director of Ministry Operations for Quiet Waters. Before this role, she worked for the organization of Joni and Friends for 11 years and facilitated all Family Retreats for the MS and AL areas. Additionally, Victoria was a special education teacher for students with moderate to severe disabilities in the public school setting. She has her Master’s Degree of Education in Special Education with a Master’s Certificate in Autism Spectrum Disorder. Victoria holds a license as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst as well as two certificates in Biblical counseling through CCEF. She lives in Opelika, AL, with her husband and four children.  

Candice McGhee, Respite Care Manager

Candice McGhee is the Respite Care Manager for Quiet Waters.  For the last twelve years, Candice has served as a Special Education teacher at Little Light House of MS, where she provided specialized instruction and support to children with disabilities.  She holds a degree in Christian Ministries from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary as well as a Master’s of Arts in Teaching.  Additionally, she has earned certifications in assistive technology from California State University.  She serves as a ministry leader for Access Ministries, the disability ministry at Grace Crossing Baptist Church.  Candice’s passion for individuals with disabilities is deeply personal- her oldest child has a disability, giving her firsthand experience in navigating the joys and challenges that come with raising a child with a disability.  Candice lives in Gluckstadt, Ms, with her husband and three children.
