Running on Empty

Sometimes we think that when we have accepted Jesus Christ as our savior, our lives will finally be "happy" and we won't have an empty feeling anymore. However, salvation doesn't always equal satisfaction.

Salvation is a gift from God, but we have to stop trying to satisfy ourselves the worldly way. We tend to try to fill our emptiness with "things" thinking they are going to satisfy us. True satisfaction only comes when our emptiness is filled with the fullness of Christ. We have to deliberately surrender ALL parts of our lives to Him trusting that God is sovereign over every detail. We will never be fully satisfied in this world, but we can be thankful that we can have full satisfaction in Christ.

Some of us might be so disappointed that our lives aren't going as we had planned. I would like to share a quote by Corrie Ten Boon.  "If we look to the world, we get distressed. If we look to ourselves, we get depressed, but if we look to Christ, we will find rest."

Looking to God for our satisfaction rather than anyone or anything else, is the only way that we will be filled up when we are RUNNING ON EMPTY.

Fairest Lord Jesus

We sometimes think that God is not fair and just, but that is so wrong. The most unfair thing that ever happened was the execution of Jesus Christ.  He did nothing wrong but was brutally punished on a cross even though it was undeserving.  He loves us so much that He went through all that unfairness, so we could go through all our unfairness in this life. No, that wasn't fair for Him to have to die a sinless death on a cross, but He did that for us, so He could turn the unfairness into fair.

The next time we have something that happens to us that we feel is unfair and start to question God, we need to remember that He knows just how we feel. After we assess the fairness of the situation, we will agree that He lives up to His name: “Fairest Lord Jesus".

Prayer Comes First

We feel since Jesus loves us, our problems will go away. Nowhere in the Bible does it say that Christians will not have problems. In fact, some Christians have been murdered for their faith. Jesus says in His Word that we will have tribulation, but how we choose to handle our problems is what matters to Him. When we are facing problems in life, big or small, we have a choice to make.

We can try to solve it with our own strength which will get us nowhere, or we can give it to the Lord to guide us and give us strength.  Our priorities are out of order when we forget that our Lord is bigger than any difficulty we have. He wants us to remember that PRAYER COMES FIRST.

Nifty Feeling

We can stop some things, but we cannot stop time. After my car wreck and head injury, I was not supposed to live to see my twentieth birthday. God's grace has allowed me to live to see my fifty seventh birthday! Although my life is not like I planned, I am able to praise God despite my situation. Instead of all the negative things I could say about turning fifty-seven, I am choosing to live like it is my    "Nifty fifties".

Jesus has saved our lives from the malignant cancer of sin; therefore, we are able to enjoy eternity with Him. There are a lot of things about this life that are not nifty, but we can agree that what Jesus did for us so we can all have that NIFTY feeling.

Tuck Our Worries Away

There are some of us that if we didn't have something to worry about, we would create something. We worry a lot, and often we have a good reason to!  We must saturate our minds with the Word of God and all His promises to us. It has been said that promises were meant to be broken, but God has never broken one of his promises. We can live a worry-free life because we know that the Lord is in control and is working out the details for our good and His glory.

When we have a Godly perspective on life, we can tuck all our worries away. We trust in our God more than we trust in our circumstances. That is how we honor Him. We "walk by faith and not by sight".

No worries this week because of Jesus-T

New Year, New Path

We can get ourselves stuck living our hum-drum lives.  There seems to be no freedom, and our daily activities can bog us down. Over time we form our habits, and we get stuck in the boring rut of routine. Our habits can enslave us. God loves us and didn't create us to be stuck in a rut. He can set us on the right path that we are supposed to be on. Only God has the power to change our boring rut of routine into an exciting groove of grace. We need to be so thankful to God when we are set free and have been put on the right path...........the exciting path that leads to Him.
